On April 4th 2016, new express bus terminal opened at the Shinjyuku station, one of the biggest hub in Japan. Before it opened, it was very confusing to take express buses in Shinjyuku area because of 19 different locations. Now you can take all express buses from ONE place, The Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.

When you get off JR trains at Shinjyuku station, please follow the sign “South Exit”.
Please get out of the South Exit and the new terminal is right in front of the pedestrian crossing. (Some JR platforms are directly connected to the 1st floor of the terminal).
The crossing is connected to the 2nd floor of the terminal which has the 2000m2 space open 24 hrs and you can see trains and 16 tracks.
When you take the escalator, you will reach the 3rd floor where you can easily take a taxi.
The 3rd floor also has a tourist information center Tokyo with free Wi-Fi.
At the information center, you can take maps, use tablets for free, and talk with AI robot HAPPY who guides you in Japanese and also in English!
The 4th floor is for Expressway Bus. From this terminal, you can go to 300 cities in 39 prefectures out of 47 . You can go up north to Aomori and go west to Fukuoka. It will be far easier for foreign tourists to use the expressway buses from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji, Hakone, Kanazawa, Takayama, Nagano, Niigata, and more.
